Entrepreneurs establish businesses to create wealth. Although it is not the sole purpose of a business, it must be one of the objectives. As a Biblical Entrepreneur, your goal is to develop sustainable Kingdom Businesses that can positively impact the community and the world. Whether or not you achieve this goal lies largely in how you approach the pursuit of wealth. Wealth can be a tricky topic to tackle, especially among Christians in the marketplace, but you need to understand first and foremost that without wealth, your business will not be sustainable or reach its full potential for God’s glory.
What is wealth? Wealth is your savings or profit accumulated over time, including the combined value of all your assets, minus expenses i.e. your net worth. Wealth is the provision that remains once your daily needs have been met (food, clothing, housing, recreation, health care, education, etc.).
Wealth is not your business profit, as profit is just a one-time occurrence. In order to create wealth, you do need profit, but wealth is something that is accumulated and built over time.
The question is, what is the purpose of wealth?
Why would God give us more than we need to take care of our daily necessities?

The Purpose of Wealth
The purpose of wealth is for us to experience freedom so that we can do what we really want to do. Poverty is a constraint that limits us. It restricts us from doing what we really want to do. Wealth, on the other hand, gives us margin and puts us in a position where the true desires of our hearts are revealed.
Biblical Entrepreneurship is about asking the question, “How do we partner with God to make as much money as we can, without compromising our core values, and at the same time, advancing the mission and mandate of Christ?”
The biblical definition of freedom is the ability to use our gifts and skills, according to the Will of God and without restriction, to glorify God. Our God is a God of freedom, and He gives us the wisdom to create wealth so that we may further carry out His will. He desires His people to live in freedom and joy.
In other words, the true purpose of wealth is to set us free to worship and serve God, by using our time, talents, and treasure without restriction, to advance His Kingdom.
Many who achieved wealth and found freedom but did not understand God’s purpose for freedom have shipwrecked their lives. Some even died prematurely. Freedom without God’s purpose is dangerous. God’s purpose gives us guardrails to use our freedom in a way that protects us and also serves a greater purpose.
