What is Passive Income in Africa like?
As an African who came to the United States at 11 years old from Cameroon and now a naturalized citizen of the United States who is passionate about the future financial prosperity of Africa, I was excited to recently interview Rina Hicks, a Biblical Entbuyer from Nairobi, Kenya on the Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Community Podcast.
We talked about the investment opportunities in Africa with a focus on Passive Income opportunities. Rina will be one of five panelists for the Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Community Global Forum on Passive Income that will be happening tomorrow (April 20, 2023).
Who is Rina Hicks?
Rina Hicks is a Nehemiah Entrepreneurship Nairobi Community Center graduate. She completed the Biblical Entrepreneurship Program in 2020 and won first place at the 2020 International Biblical Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition at Nehemiah Week, defeating five other countries, including the United States.
She directs the Corporate Finance Advisory unit at Faida Investment Bank and serves as the Operations Director responsible for firm-wide strategic planning and processes in Kenya and Rwanda. She has led the firm in carrying out several capital market transactions over the past five years, including cross-listings, rights issues, fairness opinions, mergers and acquisitions, take-over transactions, and general capital raises in Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda.
She is the founder of Money-Wise, a platform that is involved in content creation, investment coaching, and training. The platform has increasingly become a recognized voice on financial literacy and investor education on the Continent of Africa. Rina is the author of the book “Money-Wise: Create, Grow & Preserve Wealth" and runs the YouTube Channel "Money-Wise with Rina Hicks" which has over 31,000 subscribers and over 1.3 million total views from over 50 countries.

In the podcast, Rina makes the case that investing in Africa is not just a good idea for great returns, but it also provides transformational impact in the areas of education, health and wellness, financial inclusion, technological enablement, etc. She addresses the objections often brought on by investors as to why they do not want to invest in Africa; concerns such as corruption, ease of movement of capital, currency fluctuation, etc. She also provides various passive income opportunities that investors can take advantage of today.
