I recently attended a conference where Mama Maggie Gobran, the Mother Teresa of Egypt, shared this process. Give it a try. She said she started at 15 minutes a day and it became so powerful she now does it for days at a time. We should be so fortunate!
Silence your body to listen to your words,
Silence your tongue to listen to your thoughts,
Silence your thoughts to listen to your heart beating,
Silence your heart to listen to your spirit,
Silence your spirit to listen to His Spirit,
In silence you leave the many to be with The One!

Tom,
Greetings! I hope that all is well with you. Since you attended the conference, what was Momma Maggie’s basis for the process that she shared? Is it rooted in Scripture? Is there a Biblical basis? I can’t think of a Biblical connection or an admonition to follow a pattern like this. It feels more Eastern than Christian in its approach.
Just something that you may want to consider.

While it sounds eastern it is really just a process to quiet our minds. We think prayer is us talking to God and not God talking to us. The truth is we need to shut up and listen to God more and talk less. This is a listening process. Remember the still small voice?
Just read the “Power in Silence”. I have got to try that. I’ve finished Dr. Carolyn Leaf’s “Who Switched Off My Brain” so I hope it is easier to do. Trying to be silent to hear from God would be me to sleep in the past. I now realize that was a trick to block what God wanted to download into my spirit. I learned from Pastor Bill Johnson’s message at Bethel Church about quieting yourself at end of day, focusing on God and falling to sleep in his presence and that helped me get back to sleeping at night. My thoughts would be running so fast I could not calm them to go to sleep. I believe this will take me to the next phase of this journey of silence. I’ll update you.

“Be still and know that I am God”
In this crazy-busy world it is hard to quiet our minds enough to let our spirit commune with the Lord…but it is something we need to do to really allow God’s “still, small voice” to be heard.
I pray that the guided listening prayer will help you do exactly that!
I just read the “Power in Silence” and I cant wait to try it. I had peace just reading it. Im going home and do it today. this was a blessing. Thank you God Bless

“Be Still and Know That I Am God” (Psalm 46:10) was my first “thought” as I read this. I loved it and it reminded me about all the white noise in my life…I am about to undertake my journey with you and our mutual friend, Diana! I can’t wait…am just now plugging in … and am looking forward to knowing God more intimately!
