There are times when God will lay a thought on my heart and it leads me to spend extra time journaling, meditating and searching His word for new insight and greater understanding.
I recently had such an encounter.
And somehow I feel more strongly than I have in a very long time that the meanderings of my soul that I am sharing here today have very specific meaning for some of you who follow this blog?
I don’t know who you are or what you are going through. But I know you are out there.
I pray this will bless you…minister to you…and encourage you!
God doesn’t not just say I love you…He is love!
And what better time than Christmas to be focused on that?
In a sense, the word Emmanuel embodies the meaning of Christmas – the birth of Christ – “God is with us!”
Leaving heaven. Coming to earth in bodily form. Here to not only tell us that he loves us…but to show us just how much.
He came to be love with skin on. To testify to the truth of who he really is!
To show us just how much he is willing to give and how far he is willing to go.
God is LOVE!
And that very same God wants a deep – every-moment-of-everyday – abiding relationship with you…with me…with everyone of us!!!
He is your heavenly Father.
He knows what lies ahead – and knows what is best.
And He doesn’t just point and leave – he is with you guiding, helping, lovingly directing you every step of the way. (Deut 31:8)
Yet – there is an enemy. Satan.
He wants nothing more than to distract you – keep you uselessly busy – to feed you lies – to distort your view of God – to corrupt and pervert what you believe.
Sometimes blatantly. But more often subtly – almost imperceptibly.
Yet ever so relentlessly. (1 Peter 5:8)
The battle you fight is not of flesh and blood but demons and darkness in spiritual realms (2 Cor 1-:3-4)
Your weapons are not of this world – they are mighty and powerful. They are spiritual weapons – providing the protective armor of God. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
Not only do you have the armor, but you have weapons to fight offensively. You have the power to fight with LOVE – JOY – FAITH – THE WORD – THE TRUTH – PRAYERS!!!
These are NOT weapons that the world would say could defeat such an enemy. Yet they have defeated wars – hatred – death – disease – hardness of heart – unbelief – bitterness…and every other enemy in this world – and in your life – that looks too big to be defeated! (Is 55:8-9)
And once you have invited this powerful God of love into your heart as Lord and Savior – you are His!
All this power is yours.
For with God all things are possible! (Mat 19:26)
Now here is the key to your victory: The battlefield is the mind.
When doubt, fear and unbelief enter your mind – you have a choice.
These thoughts do not have to take root….grow…overshadow the TRUTH.
They can be cast down. You can remain strong in your faith. (2 Cor 10:5)
Just because a thought circles around in your head – it does not have to stay there – and it does not have any right to cause doubt to become disbelief!
A thought that is cast down – replaced by the powerful “Yes and Amen” of God’s Word (2 Cor 1:20) – has not taken up residence in your heart.
Pull out those spiritual weapons and use them.
And KNOW THIS WITH COMPLETE CERTAINTY...
You are not wavering! (James 1:6)
You are warring!
You are winning!
For it is in the heart that you believe! (Rom 10:9)
So above all else – guard your heart with all diligence for everything you believe flows from it! (Provb 4:23)
As it was with Abraham…who clearly saw his circumstance and knew they were contrary to the promises of God…yet – “Abraham believed God!”. (Rom 4:3)
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed.
Without weakening in his faith, he faced the facts about his body and his age. Yet did not waver through unbelief regarding the promises of God but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had the power to do what he promised. (Rom 4:19-21)
The same God who raised Jesus from the dead is guarding your heart – standing with you in the battle – keeping you strong in faith! (Rom 4:24)
What then shall you say…what shall I say…what can any of us say but this:
“God is LOVE…If He is for me, than who can stand against me?” (Rom 8:31)
